Ever wish you could get remove the Recycle Bin icon from your desktop? Would you like to skip the Recycle Bin functionality altogether and just delete your files directly?

#1

For Windows XP Professional Edition.

Run gpedit.msc from the Run dialog box.

Go to User Configuration --> Administrative Templates --> Desktop.

Configure the setting Remove recycle bin from desktop, by double-clicking on it and choose the setting Enabled and click OK.

Note: To make changes to this setting effective, you must log off and then log back on.

#2

For Windows XP Home Edition.

Run regedit.exe from the Run dialog box.

Find this registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\HideDesktopIcons\NewStartPanel

Edit the {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} DWORD value and set the value to 0x00000001.
